  College Dorm Packing List

Yes, you are finally moving out of your parents place and go off on your own! I know you are excited but before you start to pick up the phone to call for a UHaul, you may want to consider a few things for your college dorm packing list for dormitory living.

First of all, your living situation may not be as glamorous as you may have envisioned it to be. You will most likely be assigned to share a modest living space with a fellow student so space is limited and your organizing skills will be put to the test. There is often a tendency to over pack so to keep from needless clutter and from getting a huge headache from heavy unpacking, you should try to pack as light as possible, pack only what is needed unless the item is small to moderate in size.

A bed will be provided for you, but it will most likely be stripped of its covers. So for sanitary purposes, bring along clean bedding sheets and covers. If you are a snob when it comes to your sleep, you can bring your high quality goose down pillow and mattress pad or whatever else you may need for optimal comfort.

As academic institutions become technologically advanced over the years, lap tops have become a staple for college students for use inside and outside the classroom. It has become more than just a word processor but a portable all encompassing digital personal notebook that is used for almost every facet of college life. For consideration purposes, you may want to bring along a set of headphones in case you want to listen to music or watch a movie on your laptop without disturbing your roommate. It would also be convenient and economical if you added a portable printer and scanner in your college dorm packing list to keep from having take a trip to the computer lab every time to use their equipment or to print out your assignments.

You may also want to include any kind of entertainment in your college dorm packing list such as movies, music, deck of cards, or board games to unwind from a long day at school, or of course, when you are just bored and want to pass time.

Although dorm food is provided during meal times, it is still good to have convenient easy to prepare food and snacks around just in case you have any late night hunger or have no time to make a stop at the cafeteria.

A pair of slippers or flip flops is also good to have so you can walk around in the dorms comfortably and with ease. And of course, don’t forget your personal necessities such as toiletries, sanitary items, clothes, tooth brush, and towels.

So remember to keep these points in mind when putting together a college dorm packing list before you decide to haul your entire living room and bedroom to your new place of residence.
